IMA AUTOMATION Announces the Creation of IMA MED-TECH, the New Business Unit dedicated to Medical Assembly Technologies

IMA AUTOMATION, a division of the IMA Group and a market leader in the design and manufacture of advanced technological lines for the handling and assembly of parts for various application fields, announces the creation of IMA MED-TECH, a new Business Unit specialized in the development and production of assembly plants for medical equipment and devices. This represents a significant step forward in the IMA Group's strategy to consolidate and enhance its presence in the MedTech sector.

IMA AUTOMATION is the segment of the IMA Group composed of leading companies in the automation and assembly sectors, with over 50 years of experience and an integrated network of globally reaching companies. The division designs and produces advanced technology lines for the handling and assembly of parts for various application fields, such as Medical Devices, E-Mobility, and Electric Motors, just to name a few.

The goal of IMA MED-TECH, within the new organizational framework, is to position itself in the market as a reliable provider of complete solutions for medical technologies, such as drug delivery injectors, inhalers, in vitro diagnostics and point-of-care, wearables, and, last but not least, complete processing and packaging lines for contact lenses.

A distinctive feature of the new offering promoted by the business unit is the ability to proactively respond to the specific needs of pharmaceutical multinationals and contract manufacturers (CMOs), becoming a reference partner across a wide spectrum and offering cutting-edge assembly platforms, both standard and customized, as well as robotic solutions, digital platforms, and virtual resources, in full compliance with the most stringent market requirements.

The Business Unit will be supported by a team of +600 qualified professionals distributed across 5 locations worldwide:

  • Headquarters of IMA AUTOMATION in Bologna (Italy) – two production facilities
  • IMA AUTOMATION Switzerland SA – three facilities in La Chaux de Fonds, Gals and Boudry (Switzerland)
  • IMA AUTOMATION USA Inc., based in Elgin, ILLINOIS (USA)
  • IMA AUTOMATION Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., based in Penang (Malaysia)
  • IMA AUTOMATION China, based in Shanghai

IMA AUTOMATION, always strategically oriented towards the MedTech sector, thus reorganizes its internal assets through an integrated network of consolidated companies and the use of advanced research and development resources. The division currently boasts over 60 complete assembly lines in operation worldwide. With almost 600 patents, over half a century of market presence, and a global team of around 1300 professionals, IMA AUTOMATION will support the organization of the new IMA MED-TECH Business Unit, ensuring continuity with ongoing projects and relying on the offer of cutting-edge digital solutions promoted by the IMA Group.

"The extensive experience in complex assembly processes gained over years of market presence allows us to be at the forefront of innovation and quality in the MedTech sector," says Lorenzo Maldarelli, CEO of the IMA AUTOMATION Sector.

"The deep knowledge acquired through numerous projects and installations delivered each year allows IMA MED-TECH to provide turnkey solutions, from assembly to filling and packaging, becoming a strategic partner for our customers as we are a solutions provider and not just a machine manufacturer," adds Stephane Vuilleumier, CEO of IMA MED-TECH Switzerland.

With the creation of IMA MED-TECH, IMA AUTOMATION reaffirms its commitment to continuous innovation and increasingly advanced and sustainable production, with the aim of achieving ever higher quality standards and further strengthening its position as a market leader.
